Minimum Admission Requirements

  1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3.0 grade point average (four-point scale) or graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree or higher with a minimum of 3.0 grade point average (four-point scale) is required, and at least nine undergraduate psychology courses with a 3.0 grade point average.
  2. A minimum score of 280 (combined) on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) (verbal and Quantitative), and a minimum score of 3 on the writing portion.
  3. On time application packet that contains the application form, all student transcripts, GRE scores, a Statement of Purpose (including the type of research the student is interested in and a list of 2-3 faculty members the student would be interested in working with), a 3-5 page writing sample, and a list of three academic references with full names, titles/positions, school names, current telephone numbers and email addresses.
  4. Entering international students must have a minimum TOEFL score requirement of 550 on the paper-based TOEFL or 79 on the iBT, 6.5 on the IELTS, or 1200 on the CTEC CBT, or the equivalent.

Achievement of the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission into the degree program.  The Experimental Psychology admissions committee will review the application packets based on minimum requirements and capacity of the faculty members in the program.  Completed applications received after the due date will be reviewed for the admission in the next full term.
