BY 553. Appalachian Ecology

A study of the biodiversity and geology of the Appalachian Mountains with particular focus on unique biological communities and the impact of natural and anthropogenic events on the landscape and ecology. Three lecture hours per week and a required extended laboratory field trip to reinforce lecture materials. As part of this course, students will submit a research paper on a relevant topic and present findings as part of course requirements.
