History Major

Degree programs offered by the College of Liberal Arts and its departments share a common core of courses. Students in these programs must complete the Basic Curriculum , and the major curriculum listed below.

Major Requirements: 36 hours

One of the two following sequences:
HY 101. History of Western Civilization I (3)
HY 102. History of Western Civilization II (3)
OR
HY 103. Honors Western Civilization (3)
HY 104. Honors Western Civilization II (3)
HY 211. American History I (3)
HY 212. American History II (3)
HY 300. Historical Methodologies and Practices (3)
HY 400. Seminar in Historical Studies (3)
Approved electives in history from the 300-400 level* (18)

*All History majors must have at least one non-American elective.
