Interdisciplinary Arts Comprehensive Major

Degree programs offered by the College of Liberal Arts and its departments share a common core of courses. Students in these programs must complete the Basic Curriculum, and the major curriculum listed below. The Interdisciplinary Arts Comprehensive degree allows a student to create a personalized multidisciplinary degree in the Fine Arts. A student pursuing the IAC degree must complete at least 21 hours of coursework in two separate major concentrations from the following disciplines: Art, Music, Theatre, and Creative Writing. In addition to the 42 hours, students must complete an additional 15 hours of coursework from any of the four disciplines.

I. Major Concentrations: 42 hours

A student pursuing the IAC degree must complete at least 21 hours of coursework in at least two separate major concentrations (A, B, C, D) for a minimum of 42 hours of the 57 hour total. Coursework completed as part of the basic curriculum requirements may not count as credit towards the major program of study.

A. Art: 21 hours

In addition to meeting the course requirements, a student choosing music as a primary category in the IA major is required to participate in an ensemble musical organization for at least four semesters and participate in student recitals and attend University-sponsored music programs as stipulated by the music faculty.

C. Theatre: 21 hours
