Music Major

Degree programs offered by the College of Liberal Arts and its departments share a common core of courses. Students in these programs must complete the Basic Curriculum , and the major curriculum listed below.

Major Requirements: 67-69 hours

I. Introductory Course Work: 3 hours

NOTE: Students that pass a successful audition for a University choral ensemble may take MU 101 and two credit of University choral ensemble in lieu of MU 100 .

II. Applied Music Intermediate Concentration: 4 hours

V. Professional Keyboard Skill Labs: 4 hours

VI. Music Surveys/Music History/Music Literature/World Music: 9 hours

VII. Music Ensembles: 6 hours

VIII. Music Leadership/Business/Technology: 6 hours

IX. Music Electives: 6 hours

X. Comprehensive Retrospective/Recitals: 5 hours

All courses required in the basic curriculum as shown above, with a 2.0 quality point ratio (overall and in basic curriculum courses at UWA). A total of at least one hundred and twenty (120) semester hours with a 2.0 quality point ratio. At least eighteen (18) semester hours in the major must be earned at UWA.
