Master of Arts in Integrated Marketing Communications

Program Admission Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2.75 grade point average (four-point scale) or graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree or higher with a minimum of 3.0 grade point average (four-point scale).

In addition to GPA requirements, applicants must also submit a resume, statement of purpose, and one letter of reference. Applications will be reviewed by the admissions committee, which will consist of the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, the Chair of the Department of Communications, and one faculty member. The admissions committee may elect to conditionally admit a student who falls short of the Graduate School GPA requirement, if other application materials indicate excellence and likelihood of success. The admissions committee may consider international degrees, equivalent to the U.S. Bachelor's Degree or higher.

Applications are welcomed from international students who wish to attend UWA. In addition to meeting the regular admission requirements, foreign applicants whose native language is not English (who elect to take courses taught in English) must submit satisfactory scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimum TOEFL score requirement of 550 on the paper-based TOEFL or 79 on the iBT, 6.5 on the IELTS, and 180 on the Cambridge English Scale are required. International students who have graduated from English-speaking undergraduate schools are exempt from the TOEFL requirement. The TOEFL code for UWA is 1737.

III. Comprehensive Portfolio Defense:


Candidates shall prepare and maintain a comprehensive digital and physical portfolio which indicates the level of experiences and knowledge gained in the IMC program. The portfolio shall be juried by a committee of program faculty during a portfolio defense via video conference or in-person before the candidate is recommended by the University for conferment of degree. Portfolios will be juried as a requirement of IMC 580

*Students may only count three (3) thesis hours toward the 30 hour program total.

**Students may complete multiple courses of IMC 598  to fulfill requirements for this area, as long as the course titles are different.
