SY 470. Community Health Capstone (3)


Analysis of the social determinants of health from the sociological perspective. This course is designed to prepare students to enter occupational and/or graduate studies programs in an array of community health professions. The primary focus of this class is to analyze the relationship between health and community-level processes and characteristics. Topics included in this course cover: medical sociology, demography, epidemiology, public health, and the social and medical professions charged with meeting the health care needs of individuals and communities. Prerequisites: At least twelve hours of SY beyond the 100 level, including SY 370.   Course fee: $22.50.
