Interdisciplinary Studies - Pre-Nursing Track

The Interdisciplinary Studies Pre-Nursing Track is a degree-granting major. It allows students with an interest in nursing to have the opportunity to take basic curriculum courses that are pertinent to the nursing major (54 hours). Students cannot receive a nursing degree with this track, but can receive a BS in the IDS Pre-Nursing track. Students must apply to the Division of Nursing to be admitted into the nursing program.

Basic Curriculum


I. Written Composition: 6 hours


II. Humanities and Fine Arts: 9 or 12 Hours


III. Natural Sciences and Mathematics: 19 hours


IV. Statistics: 3 hours


V. Computer Information Systems: 3 hours


A. Three semester hours of the following:


VI. History, Social and Behavioral Sciences: 12 or 15 hours


VII. UWA Experience: 2 hours


A. Two semester hours from the following:


Approved Program Coursework


A. 300/400 level courses: 40 hours


  • Approved courses from the 300 and 400 levels: 40 hours

B. 100/200/300/400 level courses: 32 hours


  • Approved courses from the 100, 200, 300, and 400 levels: 32 hours
