Degree programs offered by the College of Liberal Arts and its departments share a common core of courses. Students in these programs must complete the Basic Curriculum , and the major curriculum listed below.

Major Requirements: 66 hours
English majors pursuing teacher certification in English Language Arts should follow the pattern below. Students should refer to the College of Education section of the Catalogue for a listing of additional requirements for teacher certification. Two of the following electives in English: 6 hours
One of the following 400-level courses in British Literature before 1800: 3 hours
Two of the following 400-level courses in British Literature after 1800: 6 hours
Two of the following 400-level courses in American Literature: 6 hours
Additional Course in the Teaching Field:
Two of the following three Journalism courses:
