UWA has joined with the Schools of Engineering at Mississippi State University, the University of Alabama, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham to offer dual-degree programs in mathematics and engineering. This allows an undergraduate to attend UWA for approximately seven academic semesters and then transfer to the School of Engineering at either MSU, Alabama, or UAB for two years of study in an engineering curriculum. After completing the academic requirements of the cooperating institutions, the student will be awarded a bachelor's degree in mathematics from UWA and a bachelor's degree in one of the following areas of engineering, dependent upon which institution the student completes his/her program: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Textile Engineering, or Computer Science.

In order to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from UWA, the student is required to complete either

or   and the following mathematics courses:

In order for a student to become a dual-degree candidate, he or she must have completed three-fourths of the credit required for a degree from UWA, must have a recommendation from the Dual-Degree Coordinator at UWA, and must satisfy the admission requirements at the chosen School of Engineering.
