Interdisciplinary Studies - Pre-Nursing Track

The Interdisciplinary Studies Pre-Nursing Track is not a degree-granting major. It allows students with an interest in nursing to have the opportunity to take basic curriculum courses that are pertinent to the nursing major (up to 57 hours). Students must apply to the Division of Nursing to be admitted into the nursing program. A Nursing Faculty Advisor or the DON Chair must approve all nursing courses (NS courses).

I. Written Composition: 6 hours
A. Six semester hours from the following:
II. Humanities and Fine Arts: 12 Hours
Up to eight hours of foreign language can be substituted in Humanities and Fine Arts to meet the requirement.
A. Three or six semester hours from one of the following Literature sequences:
B. Three semester hours from the following Arts:
C. Three semester hours from the following:
III. Natural Sciences and Mathematics: 11 hours
A. Four semester hours from the following:
B. Four semester hours of the following:
C. Three semester hours from the following:
IV. History, Social and Behavioral Sciences: 12 hours
You must complete a 6-hour sequence in either literature (AREA II) or history (AREA IV).

V. Pre-professional, Major, and Elective Courses: 23 hours
A. UWA Experience: 2 hours (UWA ASN graduates only)

- All students are required to complete either a six-credit hour history or literature sequence. Students opting to enroll in the literature sequence must also complete an approved three-credit hour history course. Students opting to enroll in the history sequence must complete an approved three-credit hour literature course.
