Psychology Major

The psychology major provides a solid foundation for understanding human behavior and mental processes. It places an emphasis on the methods used in psychological research, including research methodology and statistical analysis. Students also have a range of electives to choose from, including human development, cognition, physiological processes, social and group dynamics, abnormal behavior, and environmental psychology. Opportunities exist for students interested in conducting their own research as well. Graduates of the psychology program go on to variety of occupations in business, marketing, human resources, healthcare, criminal justice, and data analysis, as well as the more traditional routes of psychological researcher, professor, counselor, and clinician.

Degree programs offered by the College of Liberal Arts and its departments share a common core of courses. Students in these programs must complete the Basic Curriculum , and the major curriculum listed below, as well as a minor or second major and a complementary number of advisor-approved general electives.
