The Basic Curriculum

Basic curriculum requirements in natural sciences and mathematics are to be met by completing the discipline specific core.

I. Written Composition: 6 hours

A. Six semester hours from one of the following sequences:

EH 101. Written English I Credits: 3
EH 102. Written English II Credits: 3
OR
EH 104. Advanced Written English Credits: 3

II. Humanities and Fine Arts: 12 hours

A. Choose one of the following sequences:

EH 221. British Literature I Credits: 3
EH 222. British Literature II Credits: 3
EH 231. American Literature I Credits: 3
EH 232. American Literature II Credits: 3
EH 213. Honors Literature I Credits: 3
EH 214. Honors Literature II Credits: 3

B. Choose one of the following:

AT 100. Introduction to Art Credits: 3
MU 100. Introduction to Music Credits: 3
TH 100. Introduction to Theatre Credits: 3

C. Three semester hours from the following:

SH 100. Principles of Public Speaking Credits: 3
SH 150. Professional Speaking Credits: 3

III. Natural Sciences and Mathematics: 11 hours

BY 101. Introductory Biology I Credits: 4 (Math majors only)
OR
BY 103. Honors Biology Credits: 4
MH 114. Precalculus Trigonometry Credits: 3 or higher math
MH 121. Calculus I Credits: 4

IV. History, Social, and Behavioral Sciences: 12 hours

A. Six semester hours from one of the following sequences:

HY 101. History of Western Civilization I Credits: 3
HY 102. History of Western Civilization II Credits: 3
OR
HY 103. Honors Western Civilization Credits: 3
HY 104. Honors Western Civilization II Credits: 3
OR
HY 211. American History I Credits: 3
HY 212. American History II Credits: 3

B. Six semester hours from the following:

AN 100. Introduction to Anthropology Credits: 3
