Nursing Major: BSN Curriculum

Degree programs in the Ira D. Pruitt College of Nursing share a common core of courses. Students in these programs must complete the Basic Curriculum and the major curriculum detailed below.

A. Non-transfer graduates only

Students with an unencumbered registered nurse license are not required to enroll in UWA 101 or NS 100.

UWA 101. Freshman Seminar Credits: 1
NS 100. Introduction to Nursing Credits: 2

B. Four semester hours of the following:

Four semester hours from any CH courses

At least 42 semester hours credit in Nursing courses, as follows:

NS 101. Pharmacology Credits: 2
NS 102. Foundations of Nursing Practice I Credits: 6 *
NS 103. Foundations of Nursing Practice II Credits: 6
NS 201. Maternal-Child Nursing Credits: 5
NS 202. Adult Health Nursing Credits: 8
NS 203. Mental Health Nursing Credits: 4
NS 204. Advanced Adult and Critical Care Nursing Credits: 9
NS 205. Preparation for Licensure Credits: 2
**For community college and other associate degree transfers, a maximum of 40 associate degree nursing credit hours will be transferred from Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited programs.

VII. Approved Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program Coursework

Complete 27 hours of online bachelor's degree nursing courses, as follows:

NS 310. Nursing Theory Credits: 3
NS 311. Health Assessment Credits: 3
NS 312. Concepts of the Professional Nursing Role Credits: 5
NS 410. Evidence-based Practice and Concepts of Nursing Research Credits: 3
NS 411. Community/Public Health Nursing Credits: 5
NS 420. Nursing Informatics Credits: 3
NS 421. Leadership in Professional Nursing Practice (5) Credits:
A minimum of 120 hours is required to complete the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
