General Information

Mission:

The Mission of the Division of Engineering Technology (DET) is aligned with the Mission of the University of West Alabama to provide an opportunity for students to pursue baccalaureate programs in the fields of Computer Engineering Technology (CET), Engineering Technology (ET), Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), Technology, and associate programs in Industrial Maintenance (IM) - electrical and welding tracks . The Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology and the Associate of Applied Science in Industrial Maintenance are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Purposes:

The purpose of each program in the Division of Engineering Technology is designed to provide students with critical thinking skills, competency-based skills, and the knowledge to seek a career in their field of study.

The role of the Division of Engineering Technology in fulfilling the overall purposes of UWA encompasses the following objectives:

Degrees Offered

1. The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering Technology
2. The Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (ABET Accredited)
3. The Bachelor of Science in Technology
4. The Associate of Applied Science in Automotive Engineering Technology
   • Associate of Applied Science in Automotive Engineering Technology will no longer be accepting incoming freshman from Fall 2025.
5. The Associate of Applied Science in Industrial Maintenance (ABET Accredited)

Minors Offered

1. Computer Engineering Technology (24 hours)
2. Electrical Engineering Technology (24 hours)
