As part of the Basic Curriculum, students must complete a six-hour sequence either in literature (Area II) or history (Area IV). III. Natural Sciences and Mathematics: 11 Hours
A. Take eight semester hours from the following:
- Any 100 and/or 200-level lab-based courses with a AY (Astronomy), BY (Biology), CH (Chemistry), EN (Environmental Science), ES (Earth Science), GE (Geology) or PH (Physics) prefix, or any other approved lab-based science by Alabama Transfers.
B. Three semester hours from the following:
IV. History, Social and Behavioral Sciences: 12 Hours

- Any 100 and/or 200-level course with AN (Anthropology), EC (Economics), GY (Geography), PS (Political Science), PY (Psychology), and/or SY (Sociology) prefix.
C. Three semester hours from the following:
As part of the Basic Curriculum, students must complete a six-hour sequence either in literature (Area II) or history (Area IV). - Any 100 and/or 200 level course with a AN (Anthropology), EC (Economics), GY (Geography), HY (History), PS (Political Science), PY (Psychology), and/or SY (Sociology) prefix.

- All students must complete a six-hour sequence in either literature or history.
- Reference the Area V section in your major before selecting courses in the basic curriculum.
